Review summary
We have cruised Carnival before. Love the cruise line. We did however experience some problems this time. we booked our cruise in january through a travel agent. in february our daughters and some of the grandkids wanted to go with us so i went with them to the travel agent to book them on the same ship and date as ours. They requested (2) ocean suites, with extra space since it was their first time to cruise and they had children, wanted the extra space for the memorable event. Booked the 2 suites with one check for all 8 passengers., paid in full. In april when I tried to book shore excursions on my own, I could only pull up one of their rooms. I returned to travel agent to assist me and upon her checking into the problem found that only one room had been booked but the full amount was paid at the time of booking for both suites and all 8 passengers. the travel agent did a really good job for 4 hours trying to get carnival to correct the error but they just kept telling her that the suites were all book up and no more were avaliable on this ship. we ended up having to downgrade to just balcolny suites because of safety issues we wanted their two rooms to be beside each other as there were 3 adults and 5 children and did not want to be seperated. So this was quite a dissapointment to have to down size the suite. After we got on the ship, the first nite we had the early seating but when we got to the dining room, they had placed us, our party of 10 at different tables on different levels of the dining room. Now we had a birthday party for one of the grandsons scheduled for that first nite and that seating arrangement was not going to work. They did accomodate us by offering us a late seating at the same table. And actually the late seating worked better for us so after the initial problem was solved it worked better. Now for the good stuff, the staff, the ship, the food, the entertainment, all was wonderful The ports of call were St Maarten, St Kitts, San Juan Puerto Rico and Grand Turk. Our chosen shore excursions were awesome choices. We helmet dived in St Maarten, loved it. In St Kitts we did a beach excursions, the drive was educational and the beach was nice. In San Juan we ziplined. That was on our bucket list and now have done that. This was enjoyed by all. in Grand Turk, the prettiest beach of all 4 ports, we swam with the stingrays. Not as good as stingray city in Grand Cayman, but was ok. The tour guides were great. Will continue to travel Carnival even though there were a few negatives, most of all it was positive.
