I definitely recommend Carnival Cruises, but not Elation. She is showing her age.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Flawless! JAXPort is a small port and the team is very efficient.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
2 out of 5
Food was plentiful but bland. The best thing I ate was the fresh pressed brunch juice and steakhouse steak-both came at an extra cost.
Onboard Activities
2 out of 5
There is only one pool. This could be the perfect shop for a cruise in the winter months, but there wasn’t enough pool space for a hot summer cruise.
Entertainment
2 out of 5
The stage shows were fun, but the musicians seemed unprepared. They always started late and had tech issues.
Children's Programs

My 14 year-old loved Circle C. He spent as much time there as possible! The staff made his trip extra special.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
The staff did the best they could with an old, dirty ship.
Ship Quality
1 out of 5
I’d give negative stars if I could. The carpets were very worn. The staff did the best they could to keep the ship clean. I was very disappointed that the adults only Serenity deck didn’t have a bathroom or a bar. I think the ships layout needs to be re-worked.
Cabin / Stateroom

Balcony cabin on deck 6. The bathroom constantly smelled like a port-a-potty. Many other guests throughout the ship had the same issue.
Ship tip
Avoid this ship!!! I’ve been on 5 other Carnival ships and this one definitely needs an upgrade.
We rented. Private bungalow and it was really fun! Definitely worth the price. It came stocked with beach towels, snorkel gear, pool floats, soda, water, fruits trays and chips/salsa and guacamole.
Very poorly organized. There were not enough announcements about which groups should leave at what time. I’ve taken 5 Carnival cruises-never had an issue before.
We were on the Elation twice since the restart and didn't find anything wrong with the ship. We enjoy the small ship intimate feel that the larger ships just can't provide. Thanks for the review.
Older ships certainly need more TLC but they serve a purpose. For smaller markets/home ports that could not support a new mega ship, you get an old small ship or nothing. They should maintain them though so if it is falling apart, that is a fair gripe. But the amenities and layout, is what it is. Most people are fine with that.
