Review summary

We really enjoyed this cruise. Our last cruise was on Norwegian, and it was a disaster. We are sticking with Carnival, and just booked the Mardi Gras for next January. My advice to Carnival is to take this crew and put them on a ship worthy of them.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Very smooth, took about 20 minutes to get on board!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
I found the food to be very good. This is our second time on Carnival, and the choices of dining were nice. Joseph in the rear dining room for 6:00 was very good, and I am going to blame him for whatever weight I gained. I am not ashamed to say that I did on occasion order multiple entrees and desserts.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
The pool was a bit cool. Yes, we are from Buffalo, but if our water is going to be cold it better be frozen. The grandkids loved waterworks. As many have commented, once you take the kids to Camp Ocean you will need to drag them kicking and screaming to get them to leave.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
There was a good variety, but they really need to turn the volume down.

Children's Programs

5 out of 5
Camp Ocean is great, Green eggs and ham brunch was fun, and my granddaughter loved the kids dining.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Henry, our steward for cabin M75 & M71 was the best we have ever had! Our rooms were perfect, and he was always around with a smile. The bartenders were just ok, with one exception. Sadly, I forgot her name. She was always at the bar in Tiffany's at the back, and was from Thailand. She was friendly, fast, and always was showing people my yeti cup with the led lights. The cruise director, Alex was also the best we have ever had.

Ship Quality

2 out of 5
Although the Elation was kept clean, it is definitely getting old. I can't believe that they haven't done something to keep the smoke from the casino out of the rest of the ship. It wouldn't be that hard to isolate it. There was definitely something wrong with the azipods, as there was a pronounced vibration at the same frequency as the cavitation lines in the wake. We were watching some of the tables in Tiffany's shake so bad that silverware was moving.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Very nice, clean and quiet.

Ship tip

The Breeze runs the same routes, and is a lot nicer.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
It was just as smooth as embarkation.
