Review summary

We went thru Hurricane Michael and lost everything. Had no way to get birth certificates out of wreckage. We called and was told we could just bring our Florida drivers license. However when we got there that was not the case. They didn’t care that we lost everything in the hurricane and really needed to get away from the devastation for a few days. They also said we could not get a refund for the trip. We rebooked a cruise on Carnival a few days later for a western Caribbean but we had to pay for that one too. Will not go Carnival again!!!!!

Was in hurricane Michael and lost birth certificates. Was told when we called all we needed was drivers license. We got there and wasn’t allowed to go. Also no refund even with our tragic event. Will never travel with Carnival again

Enhanced DL are only accepted from certain states ( those that boarder Canada ). You are leaving the country and must adhere to the requirements. So very sorry for your losses😱

Marriage certificate????

Sorry for the loss. I have family still in the midst of the devastation as well. But as stated, ID and travel document standards are set by federal immigration not the cruise line. Not sure who you talked to, but would have been very suspect to receive that answer. Validate EVERYTHING, don't believe the first answer.

You need a license, birth certificate, and if married your marriage license. They can’t make exceptions. Even though I know these rules I always call to confirm before we leave for our vacation.

cruiselines do not set federal immigratuon policies. they follow them. read the info online and it clearly states whar is needed and you acknowledge it when you check in. dont blame others for your mistakes

I think drivers licenses are different now. You have to have an enhanced license to travel. If it says not for federal I’d on your license go to dmv and get it upgraded

It's called trip insurance, read your contract & know the rules, I don't think a CCL employee would ever tell you to only bring a license only, birth certificates are easily replaced & Matthew was a few yrs ago, we were outrunning him on a CCL cruise but he followed us home to FL unfortunately, we missed a port but I still will cruise CCL. 😏

I am sorry you have lost everything to a disaster, and can certainly understand your frustration. Not sure who you spoke with that said you could use your DL and no birth Certificate, as that information is incorrect. Citizen documentation requirements are set for by U.S. customs and Immigration, not by the cruise lines.
