Ship: Carnival Elation

Cabin type: Balcony

Traveled as: Couple

Review summary

My impression of the Elation was that the ship itself seemed outdated and in need of a complete over haul. Although the crew overall were more than helpful the appearance of direction seemed a little lax. for better words

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

1 out of 5
The dinning was the worst. Our main dinner table was great for the guest we dined with. But as to the rest of our dinner experience the food was horrible. Most of our meals had no taste or were not cooked properly. most nights we did not even finish our meals. We could have not even eaten dinner and it would have been just as well. The waiter was great and so was his asst. but that was about all I can say. They need to fix the speaker system on the ship it was loud and sound was distorted in output which made it hard to hear and way to loud to care to understand. There was no director or Matrde' to come to our table to ask if our experience was okay or an one to follow up on the service that the guest received. The bar attendant for dinner was over worked and took a long time to get back with our table for our ordered drinks. The rest of the restaurants were okay.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The main activities I went to were the art auction, the comedy shows and the casino. All of these were great. As well as sitting in the hot tub of the serenity deck.

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
The staff were more than willing to please the guest.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
The ship was of smaller size which was great for getting around and the activities on board were nice. The pools were small and crowed most of the time. There was no control of the teenagers playing with the elevators when needing to be used by guest. The pools needed to be resurfaced. They were chipped and cracking around the edges. Our Balcony suite that we had was nice in size and comfortable for two. But the condition of the interior was clean but the tables were scratched up. The drawers in the cabin did not open easily. The cabin steward was great he was very attentive to our needs and keep our room clean the whole cruise. The decor of the ship was on but overall again seemed out dated. The Tiffany dinning room was dark by the stain glass and made it seem small by visual appeal.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
Not repeating myself

Pros: The best part of our cruise was our excurision

Cons: The food was nothing to brag about

Recommends Carnival Elation? No.
