Review summary

The cruise itself was very good but we are completely disappointed in the lack of assistance with our lost bag. This suitcase was placed under a bus we were sitting on and then moved to another bus without any safeguards in place. The day before we got back, I would have rated the vacation a 5/5, with the disembarkation issues I give it a 2/5.

Embarkation

Overall it was quick and easy. Signage for Faster to the Fun needs to be better because we were directed to the wrong check in line and then (I'm not exaggerating) yelled at by one of the staff that was directing passengers.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
The dining room staff was friendly and efficient. Buffet was kept tidy and staff was helpful. The Pig and Anchor was amazing! Great food and not as crowded as we expected it to be. The food on the Chef's Table menu was fantastic!

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Lots of variety of onboard activities. We enjoyed the hot tubs every day. Went to the thermal spa only once (even though it was included in our cabin package) because the outdoor spaces were so nice. Also - loved the large loungers in the adults only area (although the noise from the nearby water slides was apparent, it was not annoying)

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Our cabin stewardess, Christine, was amazing. For the most part everyone on the ship was friendly and helpful.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Cabin was clean and comfortable. We kept our sofa made as a (third) sleeping space the whole cruise. It would be nice if there was somewhere to "stow" the couch cushions when the bed remains made up. We stuffed them in the closet which made us lose a lot of storage space.

Ship tip

Make sure you eat at Guy's Pig & Anchor at least once. The food was delicious! Also - if you have an opportunity to book the Chef's Table - do it! We have done Chef's Table on several Carnival ships and this was the best one!

Disembarkation

Terrible - of the many cruises I have taken this had to be the worst. Completely disorganized and people coming from the elevators could just get in line with not having to have waited at all. We booked Carnival transfers from the port back to Houston IAH airport and the bus company lost my daughter's only suitcase by taking it off our bus and putting it on a bus beside ours (when there was talk that the two buses would combine folks for the trip). It never made it back on our bus. The bus company (Galveston Limo) said they are not responsible and Carnival has not responded to the emails I have sent.
