The cruise was a wonderful experience although it was at a limit of my physical capabilities. Still, I saw people who were even more mobility-limited and making it. They had Rollators and even some had powered Scooters but all of them had someone travelling with them. I would urge EVERYONE to take at least one cruise while you are able-bodied. Being on the ocean in a big sturdy ship manned by smart and friendly people is a grand experience!
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Difficult, too far to walk (parking lot, line outside terminal, line inside terminal, ramps to ship, onboard to stateroom, probably over a mile - I did not know that I could get a wheelchair and a person to push it.)
Ship experiences
Food and Dining

Sapphire Restaurant was phenomenal! The staff and food were excellent. I got to try things I'd always heard about and things I could hardly believe someone had invented!
Onboard Activities

The Cloud 9 Spa was what I needed: pedicure and two different kinds of massage, undeserved but very deeply appreciated.
Entertainment
5 out of 5
As a former stage manager in the local Little Theatre, I was both impressed and jealous of the Ovation Theatre system of lights, sound, electronically-changeable backdrop, and the stage with its vertically-moveable segments. The actors, dancers, singers, and accompanying music were great.
Children's Programs
I was traveling alone.
Service and Staff

They were constantly there, constantly friendly and asking if I needed anything, constantly very efficient, all wonderful individuals.
Ship Quality

I kept noticing little design details that showed deep comprehension of things that most designers might overlook. I appreciated the considerations given to providing handholds and not having things to trip over or run into. I was pleasantly surprised at the numerous people wiping down with disinfectant all surfaces where passengers could touch with germy hands. Your janatorial workers were busy all the time. All the crew deserve bonuses for making my cruise so enjoyable and safe.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
Absolutely great - with one minor exception - the mattress was not as comfortable as the one I have at home. Otherwise the cabin was BETTER than my home. And it surely was a luxury to have someone else taking care of things. The steward was a really good man and the little towel animals he placed every day were a true delight!
Ship tip
GO! but if you are old and decrepit do line up wheelchair assistance.
Much easier than embarkation because the Guest Services lady arranged for me to have a wheelchair and a man to push the wheelchair therefore I did not have to hobble along for such a long way.
I am so happy to hear that you enjoyed your first cruise so much. And, if you are like us you were thinking about your next cruise. I always have to rent one of the scooters so that I can get around easier. That has made a huge difference! I can get around the ship and the ports so much easier. It is definitely worth the money! You can always get help with whatever you need from the staff.
I love this review! Reminds me of our first cruise. It only took my wife 15 years to convince me to get on one. We’ve gone every year since and still love it. Never thought a fifty year old man could be giddy but I was on our first cruise. 😁
So very happy you had a great cruise once on the ship.
We have a bunch of cruises under our belt and on a cruise in 2019 I was struggling with breathing issues as we entered the terminal. A lady with Carnival rushed up to me with a wheelchair. I passed on the offer but was impressed with how observant she was.
Thank you for your review. It was a nice read.
Glad you had assistance leaving the ship. Next time you book a cruise, go through a travel agent or when booking tell them you need wheelchair assistance Thanks for sharing your experience. 😀
