Review summary

I'm not sure where to begin, but you might wanna kick your feet up, this could get long.... we were first time cruisers when we booked a 7 day to Montego Bay Jamaica, Grand Cayman, and Cozumel Mexico. Go big or go home, right?? The first thing we did was look up a deck layout (this is of course AFTER booking) and hope like hell the room we picked was a good one. It was on deck 6 right above Guys pig n anchor BBQ. Immediate freak out. We are from Texas and well- HELLO! Generally speaking.....BBQ=smoke. Nope. Not on the breeze. I didn't smell smoke ever. Not even in line at pig n anchor! Their ventilation system is A1! Actually, our room (6431) was right over the awning for that place so OPTIMAL privacy in our balcony! Gonna try to book the same room next time. It was a great location because it was equidistant to everything. Ok, next we watched you tube videos of the ship, how to pack, WHAT to pack! Joined this place where we learned SO much. I was an over-achiever. If you could do it- I did it. We booked an excursion at every port, did the cheers package, a wifi package, couples massage, Dreams Studio photographer, a dinner in the steakhouse. I'll break those down in a few. The first day the ship was literally the rockiest EVER. Like- everyone, platinum cruisers, the cruise director himself, said worst of the worst. Everyone was SO accommodating. Green apples and ginger ale are LIFE! I used seabands only when needed (that first day) and oil they sell over the counter behind my ears. A lot of people had prescription patches behind their ear and swore by them too. What to pack- definitely a power cord with multiple outlets but not a surge protector. We took a small fan but honestly as nice as it was to have it took up a lot of real estate in the suit case and I was tempted to leave it on the ship but crammed it in to come home. Magnets are a must, and magnetic hooks from amazon (hold 25 lbs+) will be your best friend. You can hang your wet swim wear, your day bag, I used them for a hanging organizer too. I also thought it was worth it to buy the luggage tag sleeves. Didn't want the paper to get ripped off. Cool it on the shoes. You can prob stick with the same color family and reduce the amount of shoes to pack and then re pack to come home. Don't bother bringing extra hangers you can just ask your room steward. Do bring air freshener for the rest room. Small space. No exhaust fan. We didn't use the full cheers package especially being sick at first due to the sea conditions but I feel like the peace of mind of not having to worry about whatever I wanted to drink was worth it. It covers almost everything! We did the social wifi package plus the $5 each device for the hub. It was nice to not have access to email or really anything but social media. I needed that So that my sister could reach me somehow for the kids. The couples massage was amazing but I didn't know you could book some kind of milk bath beforehand. Maybe call instead of booking online. The steakhouse is a must but book early. Like right around the time you book your cruise. I can't say enough good things. The filet mignon MELTED in my mouth. I spent more on photos than I spent on the cruise: that's prob more discretion. I felt it was worth it. Some may not. In Montego Bay we did the dolphin encounter and doctors cave. It was great. Photos weren't as bad as I expected. In grand Cayman we did jet skis and snorkel. Jet skis were more fun than the snorkel for us. In Cozumel we did the twister boat to passion island. DO THAT!! If you have any specific questions I'd be happy to try to help!
