Review summary

I think this cruise is OK if it is your introduction to cruising. If you go on bigger ships and see how efficient they are then you can only compare them with the lack of efficiency on the Astor.

Embarkation

Spoken to very rudely when first arriving on the ship and we were being so polite and nice too.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Never tried the specialty restaurant. I guess the food was OK for a small ship.

Onboard Activities

Entertainment

The theatre was dreadful. The stage was not raised in any way. It was difficult to see the performers in between other passengers heads, particularly when staff were serving drinks at the tables. The sound was quite good in some areas of the room but in others it was difficult to hear. The performances themselves were marvellous. The performers deserve a pat on the back for what they managed to do in such a small area.

Service and Staff

Our cabin steward was Indian and absolutely marvellous. The restaurant/buffet staff seemed to be Eastern European. They were unfriendly and snappy. They were a really miserable lot and we are very easy to get along with.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
We were happy enough with our cabin. Our steward was great. The toilet blocked up three times though and we never put anything down it to cause the problem.

Disembarkation

1 out of 5
It took forever to disembark. Much longer than other much bigger cruise ships take.
