Review summary
The reason I rated i the cruise only a two is that we didn’t get to see many of the ports because the river was so low. Of course, American Queen Lined is not responsible for that. However, they should have warned us of the possibility that we will not be able to see at least half of our ports because of weather conditions. Everyone should know that at least on the lower Mississippi, it’s quite possible that the river will be either too high or too low to visit many of the ports and that ruined the cruise for me and most of the other passengers.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
It was good. We completed the paperwork the day before in our hotel, so we simply had to pretty much walk in the boat.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
The food was merely acceptable. For the price, I expected gourmet food, but didn’t get it.
Onboard Activities
3 out of 5
They had the usual types of activities, like bingo and trivia games, but fewer of them because it was a small boat.
Entertainment
5 out of 5
The musicians, singers, and dancers, were top rate. All of them were excellent something I have not seen on other boats. You will like it, however, if you’re into 60s music or older. I loved it because that’s the music I like.
Service and Staff
3 out of 5
It was uneven. On the good side, some of the waiters were spot on, and quite funny. On the other, my partner didn’t get tea twice that she had requested. And there was one amazing incident in which an excursion person was asked about a map of the city we were going to. She said there wasn’t and just walked off the stage, even after someone asked if she could make one. I would have fired her on the spot if I had been her supervisor.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
The ship was well designed and clean.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
I don’t care much about the cabin so I can’t really describe it. It had a private balcony and enough room.
Enjoyed Memphis, and liked the blues center of the city, Beale Street. It was great to see in the daytime, but I was a little afraid to walk around there at night.
