For the price of the cruise American Cruise Lines should invest in their company and develop some usable docks at each of their stops. Viking Cruise has done it, so I'm not sure why an American Company hasn't as well.
Embarkation
2 out of 5
Terrible embarkation ramp, but luckily they had golf carts to drive us down to the boat or my 98 year old grandfather never would have made the cruise.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
2 out of 5
Food was below average and lacked choices, and service was very, very, very slow. The outside Cafe was the only choice in the morning if you wanted to be able to catch the early excursions due to time it took to get food in main dining room. Luckily the food was good at the cafe.
Onboard Activities
1 out of 5
Very limited and mostly involved trying to sell more cruises.
Entertainment
4 out of 5
The one good thing about the boat especially the blues group they had on for one evening, the female singer was great.
Service and Staff
3 out of 5
The crew helping us on and off the boat did great with limited equipment and help from management. The ramps used by American Cruise Lines are horrible and so steep a golf cart had to be used, but the golf cart battery went bad. The crew did the best they could and management from the boat didn't seem to care even a little. Again, my 98 year old grandfather couldn't get off the boat on more than one occasion because of the ramp conditions.
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
The ship design was great and fairly well cleaned.
Cabin / Stateroom
3 out of 5
The cabin was laid out well and spacious, but there was old toenail clippings on the floor in the cabin the first day and the outside veranda deck was dirty and filled with dead bugs and spider webs and looked like it had not been cleaned in months.
Ship tip
Try to book on a different cruise line and avoid American Jazz from American Cruise Lines
We were told we would disembark from deck 2 and we actually disembarked from deck 3, maybe it was due to the river level. The crew somehow destroyed one piece of luggage so it had to be carried as one of the wheels was broken off
