This was one of the most educational cruises we have been on, everything themed to the Lewis and Clark Expedition, Lectures, tours, evening entertainment, and even the watercolor art classes.
Every town along the river contributed something to our understanding about this period in our history. The ship’s River Lounge were perfect for watching the Columbia and Snake Rivers’ scenery, the busy shore line and shipping and the impressive locks. The tour of the pilot house and conversation with the Captain about the running of the ship was one of the cruise highlights.
The Cruise Directo on this cruise was outstanding with multiple activities scheduled every day, including a I-phone technical tips class. Evening entertainment was always lively and whenever possible included local musical groups.

This is a new ship with a good gym, miniature golf, and an excellent watercolor painting experience.
Entertainment
5 out of 5
The lectures were great all themed to the Lewis and Clark expedition and opening of the Oregon Trail. Everything was keyed to the cruise's theme including the evening entertainment, art classes, and port highlights. We even had Nez Perce Lecturers and dancers.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
ACL's staff are young, eager, and fun to be around. We had great service from the Captain, Cruise Director, on down to and including waiters and deck hands.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
This is one of the nicest and newest cruise ships we have been on. Everything works well and looks great.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
Our cabin was large, well furnished, clean and comfortable. Good Wi-Fi, good selection of TV channels, and kept clean and tidy by housekeeping.
Ship tip
Take advantage of the opportunity to visit the great museums and tours along the way. Many are dock-side and others such as Mount Saint Helen are a brief bus trip away on one of the very nice ACL buses.
We boarded the ship from Hayden Island so didn't see much of it. There is a big shopping center near the hotel for last minute items, though there is opportunity to shop along the Columbia river.
Astoria was on of the highlights; don't miss the Maritime Museum (dockside) or the trip to Fort Clatsop. Both are excellent. Astoria is a nice town too, with at least one good bookstore and several art galleries.
Richland has a great history and the museum covering Hanford's role in the Manhattan Project is excellent. Our docent had worked there and had many experiences to share.
We did the tour of the cellars under the downtown, and then the Native American museum. We thought the museum was an education in itself. The guide was quite forthright.
Appreciate your feedback. Happy to know that this itinerary and service has improved since we sailed last October. Glad you enjoyed your riverboat cruise.
