Review summary

Almost too relaxing for me. There was a biking group “Backroads” on board that were too active for me. A lot of time cruising which is just the nature of a river cruise.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Seamless- walk right on.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Food good but personally hate buffets and that is the usual choice for breakfast and lunch. There were a few selections daily that could be ordered such as omelet etc. for breakfast and cheeseburger and a few other choices. Service at times was weak in the dining room such as not asking for allergies, refilling coffee, seeing if there is anything else we need. Restaurant manager tried to improve situation but seemed to have a few new servers or those that were tired of serving. Overall very good. They did have fresh squeezed orange juice available everyday too.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Only did massage and hair salon. Both very good.

Entertainment

Spanish singer not so great. Couple who sang popular tunes excellent. Only 2

Children's Programs

No children with us

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Vanessa, the cruise manager was the best we have had in 25 cruises. Very personable and managed everything with a smile. Poni, our room attendant very efficient and friendly. Lazlo, in charge of dining excellent. All staff very friendly and helpful. Great massage from Elens and hair styling too.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Very clean. Cabin balcony rails due soon for varnish but very clean

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Cleanliness great but this room has only 225 square feet, somewhat smaller than we prefer but adequate. We had a BA cabin and moved up to AB. Which was not available when we booked.

Ship tip

Almost too relaxing. Prefer a little more robust trip. Ports of call were fine and guides were good. Best part of trip was pre-cruise 4 days in Zurich and Lucerne, though hotels were not as good as they could have been. Marriott in Zurich a 5 star hotel but dirty docks in our closet (not ours) and ladies panties in another person’s room.

Small group tour and then did canal boat. Happened to be one of the hottest days of the year and pretty uncomfortable but had great lunch in the Cave restaurant.

Mannheim (Heidelberg), Germany

Went to Speyer tech museum instead of Heidelberg. Those who went thought it was great.

Amsterdam, Netherlands

Spent 2 days after cruise and had private driver. We had tickets to Anne Frank house but no one else on ship did. Would have been helpful to others if they told them you had to book 2 months in advance or offered them as an excursion

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Simply able to walk off and claim your luggage. Luggage put out by 8 am and they unload for you. We left at 9 without any difficulty.
