We loved our cruise on the Amadara. This cruise is a great introduction to Vietnam and Cambodia. It was a great blend of history, culture and shopping. I enjoyed seeing both cities and the countryside. Visiting a local school and interacting with the children was priceless. Our guides were fantastic and all the excursions ran seamlessly.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Embarkation was quick due to small number of passengers.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
I loved the open seating and food selection. There were Eastern and Western options at every meal. I understand that everything was made onboard (including bread and pastries!) and the produce was always fresh.
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
There is a small pool and fitness room. There were stretching and core strengthening classes. There were a couple of organized games, which we enjoyed - team trivia game and bingo. However, the focus of this cruise is not the onboard activities, as each excursion is amazing.
Entertainment
4 out of 5
There were local dancers and musicians a couple nights. There were informative talks about history plus a few demonstrations - cooking, fruit carving, exotic fruit tasting. The in-room TV had movies and documentaries related to the areas we were visiting, which gave us more historical context. The staff talent show was a lot of fun.
Children's Programs
There weren't any children on this cruise.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
The service was excellent. Food and drink were served promptly. Crew members were cheerful and friendly and learned our names. When we had a question about our room, someone came immediately. Bottled water was always available. Onboard laundry was ready within the day and was done well.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
The wooden decor is beautiful. The ship is laid out logically. The common areas were always kept clean. I was glad to have functional wi-fi in the main meeting areas.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
The cabin was comfortable and spacious enough, especially the bathroom. There was always hot water in the shower. We slept well, as, the bed and bedding were quite comfortable. Noise was not an issue.
Ship tip
Try the onboard massage - it was very good and reasonably priced.
The ship docks at Phnom Penh for a couple nights, providing the best opportunity to go out and explore on your own. The crew has a lot of suggestions about where to eat and shop.
