Great cruise until disembarkation ruined the entire experience. And, we have touted AMA Waterways with friends (our 2nd cruise with AMA).
Embarkation
5 out of 5
We arrived early, but did not wait long before our stateroom was ready; registration folks very personable.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
Chef's Table was excellent. Good selection of daily wines. Breakfast & lunch buffets' menus were excellent and better than the regular menus.
Onboard Activities
3 out of 5
N/A - no pool; only activity was exercise running track and stretching that one of us used on one occasion - just ok!
Entertainment
5 out of 5
The pianist was excellent. The Glass blower Hans was excellent & highly recommend his return for each cruise to this region.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Stateroom staff excellent! Other than one waiter, the dining staff were also excellent. The one waiter lacked person & good communication skills which was directed to the hotel director Captain.
Ship Quality

Someone was always cleaning public areas. A swimming pool would have been welcomed immensely, as it was extremely hot during this cruise (one day up to 104 Fahrenheit).
Cabin / Stateroom

We were not in 228. We were upgraded to 317. The stateroom attendants were excellent! Very little room, however, to put clothing that did NOT require hangars. Some of the electrical outlets did not charge our camera batteries. Had to use the bathroom outlet.
Did walking tour; missed pretzel shop as it was Sunday and closed; they did special display for those who chose that shore excursion. We would have liked more time here. Visited Hans at the Wertheimer Glass Gallery where many of the cruisers made Han's day!!!!
Excellent port! We did wine tasting in cave - too much time here for what was offered & could not understand the host - terrible command of English language; we took Gondola ride but ran out of time because of too much time at the wine tasting cave (big waste of time); our last cruise here a few years ago we had a wine tasting in the actual vineyard - excellent; plus, we had time to explore the city.
For unknown reasons the Captain docked at Grevenmacher instead of Remich, then Wasserbillig - we had updated the ship's itinerary the week prior to leaving for Europe & pre-paid train to Luxembourg to catch our train to Paris (on our own); See below "Rate Your Disembarkation"
Not organized at all due to change in port docking. We had to cab it back to Wasserbillig to catch our train to Luxembourg ($20 Euros that should have been credited to our AmaDante invoice). The cruise manager, Sarah, told us she had arranged a carpool for several of us to go back to Wasserbillig to catch the train. That carpool never materialized. Completely disorganized and ruined the otherwise great river cruise!
