November 2015 - 7 Night Southern Caribbean (San Juan Roundtrip) Cruise on Celebrity Summit

not all celebrity cruises are the same!!

We traveled out of San Juan on Nov 7, 2015 on the Celebrity Summit.  We purposely booked on Celebrity as our past cruise to Italy on the Equinox was 12 days of total luxury!  What a disappointment this time around.

The first night in the dining room was a disorganized mess.  Our waiter Isai was great and his service, exceptional.  However, to get the wine steward to come around or getting a mixed drink was another thing.  They were no where to be found.  French onion soup luke warm, shrimp were small and the food combination was not great.  We thought, "ok..this was the first night jitters, we will give it another chance tomorrow"    Even after giving our feedback to the waiter, the second night was more of the same.  This time, Cobia fish with barbeque sauce?  EEEWW...one of our party decided to try it and was not pleased.  In fact, he was in the bathroom vomiting afterward.  The staff of the ship were a mixed bunch. Some friendly and some standoffish.  Norris "aka Chuck Norris"  was the best at the pool bar!!  Biliana at the Café Bistro bent over backwards for our daily lattes.  We ended up eating at the buffet most nights, and the manager of the Ocean Grill questioned why.  We told him our experience and I am sure he raised our concerns up to higher management.  At the end of our cruise, the maître d of the dining sent up a plate of 2 chocolates and finger pastries as an apology.  Would have loved to get the gratuities back that we paid in a form of a credit for our lousy experience.  We have traveled Princess and Celebrity both, with the others in our party cruising much more often than ourselves.  Overall,   not sure we will take another chance with Celebrity since the cost vs value was not up to snuff.
