Ft. Lauderdale (Port Everglades), Florida Port Q&A

4.2
I have this cruise booked for the February 2024 sailing date. The arrival back to Fort Lauderdale is 615am. Wondering if I book a flight to leave Fort Lauderdale at 9am if there is enough time to make this flight?

No. That’s risky. Plan on a flight after 12pm

The last time I tried to cut it that close I missed my flight now I never book before 12:00 you never know how long it will take to get off the ship

Definitely do not book a flight before noon. Especially in the winter time. Too many opportunities for challenges.

I would not chance that. Most people recommend scheduling 12 noon or later.

Answered by Chetley on July 18, 2023

From experience that is risky. We now always book flights after noon when coming back from a cruise. Haven't had a problem since.

No

Heck no. it's only 10 minutes to the airport, but even if you are standing in your room, bags in hand, you won't be off the ship for a while. You have to get a ride. Hope there is no traffic. And then you have security at the airport. I agree with the others.. noon at the earliest.

Arrival time might be 06:15 but the disembarkation may only be at 07:00. Not sure if you have to clear customs but that can also slow you down. I would not risk it

No that’s way too stressful and unpredictable. I wouldn’t book a flight until after 12 noon.

Answered by LetsgoBG on July 23, 2023

Ship arrival time can change. We have been on cruises where it have changed by a few hours.

Answered by joyandjerry on July 23, 2023

A wee bit close. Personally, I wouldn't risk it. After 12 is pretty safe.

Too risky! think about how early you usually get to airports!

Answered by ArchieAxolotl on July 22, 2023

Do not try it . Too much can happen to delay your arrival and getting off the ship . Don’t try anything before noon .

Answered by davlaws on July 22, 2023

WAY to risky!! I wouldn't do anything much b4 1030 at earliest.

Answered by subman738 on July 22, 2023

Don't do it! If one thing goes wrong, one thing, you're in a bad way. I never recommend flying out before 12pm.

Yes, do it 👍

definitely won’t have enough time. Earliest self disembarkation from my cruise last week from Port Everglades was 7:45. Drive to airport was about 20 min waiting for uber and arriving at the terminal.

Answered by ashtynkeller951 on July 19, 2023

Would not do it. Ship docks at 6:15, but disembarking usually begins an hour later. 9AM flight definitely to early. There are a lot of delays that could happen with everyone getting off the ship at the same time
