It's San Francisco, a beautiful city. It took a long time before we could disembark, we got to the port at 2:00 pm and didn't disembark until 3:30. I had a 6:00 shore excursion, so was disappointed that I was unable to go to either the aquarium or Maritime National Park, which I was looking forward to one of them. We did the San Francisco at Night tour, which we both enjoyed.

This city has gone down hill. The stories about the homeless and drug zombies I witnessed first hand. We stayed in the hotel and took in San Francisco from the safety and comfort of the ship. It's not the same city I visited before.

Stayed the night before. Did not do Excursions. We were so tired from traveling, we stayed in.

Easy walking from cruiseport to other piers - we were able to hit the first Alcatraz ferry of the day, before the ship tours got there, and enjoyed a leisurely self-paced tour of the island at less than half-price of the ship's excursion. Afterward we had lunch at Pier 39 and reveled in the day of sunshine and clear skies, and strolled back to the ship in plenty of time for sailaway. Highly recommend SF as a "do it on your own" port as it is easy to get around, and if you can't find things enough to do you aren't looking hard enough.
