I live near here …The Embarcadero is never a convenient commute there are some ways to ease your commute…but I would only trust a Great GPS system…bring patience and realize that in a few hours you will be resting on the ship

Sailing underneath the Golden Gate Bridge was fantastic, twice: going in about 12pm and departing about 10pm. There was only a 30-foot clearance between the bridge and the top of the Bliss -- very cool to see the bridge pass over your head while up on the sun deck / Vibe / laser tag area. The port area is very clean and you can immediately get on one of the rail streetcars, walk west toward Fisherman's Wharf, or hop on a local bus route. I did not book an excursion because I planned to visit friends in the city. We lucked out with mostly-sunny weather, too!

Rented a bike and rode over the Golden gate Bridge. It's so pretty and unique there.

We stayed at a hotel within a short taxi ride to the port. San Francisco port is generally very busy and surrounded by traffic jams during embarkation hours. I don't think there are hotels within walking distance so a taxi is generally needed. We usually enjoy staying around Fisherman's Wharf--seemed a bit seedier this time round.

We booked our own excursion to Alcatraz through CityExperiences.com for $46. The location was a five minute walk away. Had a great time!
