The ship docket about three block from the Tourist Office. The main market place is about eight blocks from the port. There were cabs, tour operator and local transportation within blocks of the port.

I visited Papeete on an earlier cruise so did not do an excursion on this cruise

The port itself was so-so, but we took a taxi to a beach. I think it was Plage Vaiava. Excellent.

We spent a full day in Papeete, the day before embarkation. The Intercontinental Resort was so beautiful with gorgeous pools and gardens that we spent the entire day at this location. Had it been closer to shops or markets, we would have wondered outside, but it was so comfortable with many open air bars and lounge areas that we stayed at the hotel.
