Many of the businesses were closed in central Papeete (right after Easter??) or due to the Covid-19 economic recovery?

This is a typical tropical island port with beautiful scenery, but too commercialized for our taste.

Port itself was seedy. Snorkel excursion ok. Saw dolphins.

I was disappointed, I expected more of a Bali, or Hawaii experience, Then I found out all the Tahitians go to Moorea for long weekends and vacations. Makes sense to me.

Tahiti was amazing. When we arrived, we were greeted by a local Tahitian dance group that performed and gave us flowers. Bus tour excursion took us around the island and stopped at several paradise type scenic stops. Later we had free time to explore the port city.

Both days were fun. We took an island tour for the first day and the second day, we just took a stroll to the nearby restaurant. We enjoyed their local delicacy - poisson cru.
