Great city. Little expensive to shop there. The buildings are amazing. Stunning Arquitecture.

We were not impressed with this city. Everywhere we looked on the city highlights tour there were piles of trash. It was disappointing to see that they don't take care of the city. I would skip this port and add the day to Punta Del Este or Buenos Aires.

It was very warm in Montevideo!!! We took the city tour with our guide Gabriel who was actually from Maryland!!! We got to see quite a bit of the city and had authentic Uruguay lunch!!!

Took a bus tour around Montevideo. A very upscale city with beautiful beaches on all sides.

We walked around Montevideo on our own, which was easy to do and enjoyable (if you're mobile), but hot. Felt pretty safe, although watch your step as people did not clean up after their dogs, unfortunately. Definitely pick up some alfajores (sandwich cookies traditionally filled with dulce de leche caramel) at the shop near the port if you have a sweet tooth.
