This was the only excursion (beside the 3-hour drive to Berlin) where we got to see the countryside and how people lived outside of the cities. We did "West Coast Islands" and while there was not a lot of city buildings, churches, museums, there was a lot of beautiful farm land. The small town we visited was so quaint and beautiful. We walked through the streets just like you would in your neighborhood and talked to a couple of the folks that lived there, and it was charming. Unfortunately we were in the town before any of the stores opened at 10:00am so there was no shopping. I wish I could remember the small town's name in case you go there early, the is only one "one-hole" (country term) WC in the town!!

Another "neat" town. They pulled the same shenanigans again with the shuttle bus. The little map that they give you actually says that if you are at that dock the cruise line has paid for the shuttle to take you to and from town. Oh, those crazy Norwegian corporate types are a hoot. Let's break it down. Let's just say that 1500 people used the service. At $20 each that is $30,000. Figure they paid the bus company 10-15k. That's a captive 20-15k they made on us.

Took a cab to the Old City and walked down a nice pedestrian street of shops.

No excursions offered seemed appealing. We took advantage of a shuttle service from the ship to city center.
