Lahina was beautiful and bustling. It was incredibly warm both days we were anchored in the harbor. The tender process, operated by RCI with life boats left much to be desired and was incredibly disorganized. Unfortunately that did cloud our impression of the port. We really did enjoy our time while ashore. Getting to and from was a different story.

This was my third visit to Lahaina. I have to comment on the tender operation the cruise line used here. It reminded me of those human smuggling operations you see on the news that happen in the Mediterranean. I’m pretty sure there was some unusual problem on this trip because on previous visits to Lahaina, the tender operation was far better - and on the same cruise line. Our tender broadsided Quantum three times before it finally came to a stop on our return from the port. They were crowded and slowed down by activity in the transit channels. Not good. Lahaina was great though & I started my visit at Captain Jack’s across from the port. We had beautiful weather both days as we had an overnight there which was awesome.

We woke up early to the sound of the tenders being lowered & a loud whale by the ship blowing water from their blowhole only to see the tail. We enjoyed an excursion to the Maui Ocean Center & Grove Farms, a working plantation.

Last time I was in Maui was a year ago (Jan 2022). We were coming out of the pandemic and there were 800 passengers on the ship. Lahaina was not busy. In fact, I got me a whale watching excursion and it was great!! This year, 2600 passengers on ship, Lahaina was packed and all tours were sold out!!
