Very tourist oriented with too many T-Shirt shops. We made a trip (on our own) off the beaten path which was spectacular.

A small town in great contrast to Honolulu, but not a lot going on. Whale watching is a popular excursion here, but I've had just as good a view from the ship.

Charming town, but would have really liked to have had enough time to see more of Maui like Hana, which was too far away given the time we had. Tendering was a nightmare!

We booked a rental car through Costco (the company was Budget), and were picked up by the rental car shuttle. Because this was a tender port, it was about an hour from the time our tender number was called to the time we were driving off in our rental car. We drove to the Maui Pineapple Tour (Maui Gold Plantation) in Makawao (an hour drive with breathtaking scenery). The tour was informative, fun, and much cheaper than booking through the cruise line. We also stopped at a Costco on our way back to the ship. This is a great place to buy macadamia nut gift boxes. We also saw the Maui Gold labeled pineapples for sale there.

Took a Princess excursion to Haleakala crater in order to "score" the US National Park for my wife. She's trying to visit all 59 US National Parks. Did the excursion this one time but wouldn't do it again. Long ride to the site and short stay followed by another long ride back. There was a stop for lunch on the way back and the lunch was quite good but, overall, there was way too much time spent going there and back compared to the time at the site. Lahaina however is a great port.

the Ocean Center was fun, and the best shopping will be done here untll you reach the big Island. Lots of stores to visit.
