We rented a vehicle with friends and thus were able to drive around and enjoy the beauty of this island!

We visited the Aquarium for a few hours and felt we got our money's worth. Also drove up to the top of the volcano and were thrilled that the sun was out at the top. the drive is not for the faint of heart as there are hairpin turns and the weather is constantly changing. The other couple we met took beatuiful pictures at the top and let us download them onto our computer. Definitely worth the 2+ hours it takes to drive to the top.

We rented a car here for two days. Our friends, who own a condo in Maui, took us sightseeing. Road to Hana is overrated. There are so many other beautiful places to see and things to do that spending 9 hours driving down a curvy road didn’t seen worthwhile.

Rented a car the first day, went to Ka'anapali Beach, and drove north. Came back near the ship and visited I'ao Valley, very beautiful. After that we went to Hale'akala. Make sure you take a sweater or light jacket; we didn't and were sorry when we got to the 10,023 foot summit! The second day we went on the snorkel tour to Molokini. That was totally awesome. We've never seen so many beautiful fish and corals and sea turtles, what a treat!

We rented a car and did the road to Hanna on our own. The cruise price is too expensive. We made many stops to swim in water falls, the kids loved it. Go past the road to Hanna to the Seven Pools and swim there. We also snorkeled at Moliokini--snorkeling with Captain Zodiak in Kona was better.

Excursion to Molokini crater for snorkeling. We took the longer and less expensive of the 2 tours to this location. We ended up at the crater as the only ship there, as we went to the turtle area for snorkeling first, so it was good to be the only ship at the crater. Snorkeling was far better at crater than other area as it was low visibility at first turtle area. Overall snorkeling was just OK as we were far above most fish. View of crater itself was ok, not necessarily beautiful Lunch on this tour was pretty good. Breakfast was not too good with plain banana bread without butter and rolls that weren’t tasty. Good tour overall. Drove in rented Caron day one of port. Mostly spent time in Lahaina and at Ocean center.

We circled the smaller side of the island and the view and the cliffs were amazing. Somewhere along there there is a little town that sells banana bread and such. We picked up this outrageously expensive bag of coconut candy which was SOOOOOOO good. Because of the previous days' weather, we did not get to snorkle or do any of the amazing water activities available there.

First day Maui we rented a car and drove...had booked our own tour for Pacific Whale Foundation whale watching tour. GREAT day; saw mom and baby, as well as 5 whales (4 males chasing female). After whale watch, drove over to Lahaina and had lunch. Very nice little town, very touristy, but we liked it. Ate at Lahaina fish house and had excellent mahi-mahi sandwich; ocean view. Very relaxing. Great day. Second day (again, booked on our own) Haleakala bike tour. What a day! Downhill, on our own, with map that they give you, 27 miles with very little peddling. So glad we did this; highly recommend! Scared me to death but was most memorable part of entire trip. We LOVED Maui.
