Not much around the port. First day we got on Hoppa-on-Hopper-off bus (literally outside port gates), visited Rainbow Falls, Candy Factory among other places. Got off downtown and wandered around the farmers market. If you do anything in Hilo, then eat at Pineapples, really good food and reasonably priced. Back to the bus, and ‘hopped’ around some beaches. On second day, hired a car and drove up to volcano national park. Amazing…

We did not take a Holland America tour. Took the "Hoppa-On, Hoppa-Off" small bus around Hilo, visited Queen Liliuokalani Park, King Kamehameha Statue and Big Island Candy.
