Hilo is an old dumpy town, but I took the general excursion that takes usto the black sand beaches, waterfall, Japanese garden, volcano/lava tubes, and the surprisingly fantastic Big Island candy shop and had a great time.

I took a wonderful tour of a local farm. Rainbow Falls is on the property so there was an incredible view. I would do it again and again. This was a small group of 12 Bring rain gear. It rains a lot in Hilo.

Went to Richardson’s black sand beach, then to rainbow falls. Beautiful, but Hilo is so hot and muggy. After lunch, we went to Volcanoes National Park which is pretty mind-blowing.

The Southern side of the island is very green. Did Akaka falls excursion. Stunning view of the passage to the fall.

Use the free hop on-hop off to get to town. The Volcanoes National Park excursion is also great

4 1/2 hr bus tour, very interesting, on a bus with 49 people, we like the smaller bus tours,
