Good time. Took an excursion to the volcanoes and black sand beach.

Not nearly enough time here. Barely a few hours to get off the boat and back before we left for the day. Even being able to get off the ship a few hours earlier would have been better.

We did a ship excursion with Akaka Falls, botanical garden and zoo and Macadamia Nut farm. Rainy side of the island, but helpful when walking to falls!

Take an excursion a lot to see

We love this port, however it's because we always lunch at the Hilo Yacht Club as reciprocal members.

Went to the farmers market and downtown

Used our Cruises.com credit to do the "Best of Big Island and Volcanoes National Park" excursion. Highly recommended! The black sand beach was amazing, but looking down into the Kilauea crater was breathtaking.

This was our favorite port. Went to the Farmers Market and then visited Akaka Falls which was really lovely but note that if you have mobility issues then this is not the place to go. We climbed up and down over 600 stairs to get to the falls.

We had wanted to revisit Volcanoes national park in a small tour group--so went on a private tour outside the cruise ship. It was wonderful--I recommend a smaller group tour to see this location--you will make more stops and it will be a more intimate visit that's less expensive than the ship's tours.
