We did excursion

We went on a Nessie Hunt, but only saw Heilen Coos (Highland Cows for those not familiar with Scottish accents)! Booked through The Shore Excursions Group, the "Inverness, Loch Ness, and Urquhart Castle" tour lived up to its name, if not its description. While I would have liked to have visited Inverness Castle and Inverness Cathedral as mentioned in the sales information, we had no time at the end to do so. The plusses of booking this tour, however, made up for it. There were only 8 people in our group (of which we were 3), so we received a lot of personalized information, was able to hear clearly without having to strain, and didn't have to wait for stragglers to return to the bus, making our time more efficient. Our guide was from Isle of Skye, so had a lot of localized knowledge, and took us to a farm so we could see the famous Highland Cows. He dropped us off for plenty of time for self-exploration of Urquhart before we climbed aboard a relaxing boat ride across Loch Ness. We did have a little bit of time to wander Inverness to shop and eat the Best Fish and Chips and Mushy Peas of the trip.

We booked a trip to Lock Ness, great guide, nice transport but not a lot of time to do the shopping/seeing the sites. We then went into Invergordon for the shops, which is only a short walk up hill. A nice church with some local shops (we managed to find a cafe for a cuppa and food), a couple of tourist shops and not a lot else that we found.

Book a private tour on your own - castles, distilleries, beautiful views. There is nothing at the port, so you have to arrange on your own. Loch Ness is nothing special - go North.

Small town, not many attractions, bit we had a nice excursion to Dunrobin Castle.

Norwegian's shore excursion was excellent, as was the weather.

We booked a Highlands tour with WOW tours. They were great!

Beautiful city and a lot of history!!!

Another very long day in a bus. The castles were very interesting. Photography IS permitted inside Cawdor Castle. It was a long day and we stopped at a hotel for a lunch, but felt crammed as there were 3 buses there at the same time (150 people) eating. Urquhart Castle was cool and wish there was more information there about Nessie. I know it’s a legend, but ….

We have been to Inverness before, and we love it there. Again, you need to take a long bus ride from the port in Invergordon to get to Inverness.
