We arrived on a Sunday, so nothing was open & I work with a few people who live in the area so knew there wasn’t much to do, so we had a quiet & relaxing day on board. However there are several distilleries in the nearby area if you are that way inclined. I recommend Glen Ord distillery, if you can get to it. Inverness is a 45 min to 1 he train drive away, so is well within reach.

I went to Urquhart Castle on Loch Ness. The castle ruins are a must see. The view of the water from the turret was worth going up the steps which is a bit narrow to go up and down with the number of people there. I purchased a Irish cream whiskey at the gift shop that my brother in law loved.

Favorite part of the trip. Scottish Highlands are gorgeous. Thistle Tours. Book online. They pick you up a little walk from Port. We had two lovely Scottish ladies to guide us. Loved the adorable Scottish cows with bangs.

We booked a private taxi (Scotland Taxi Tours) to pick us up in Invergordon at the port and drive us to all the sites. This was such an easy way to see things and was cheaper than if we had booked two excursions with the ship. We did a scenic drive to Inverness, saw the sights at Loch Ness, and missed the crowds. This is the first time we have hired our own driver but we will definitely do this again. Once our driver knew what types of things we were interested in seeing, he offered suggestions. This gave us a wonderfully customized trip that was well worth what we paid.

We booked a tour through Go Scotland. Again, much cheaper than Princess and you really get a local feel. Went to the Scottish highlands and of course Loch Ness to find the monster. 😃

We hired a local tour guide and had an extraordinary day visiting everywhere. We saw Loch Ness, visited Glenmorangie, went to the Clootie Well, visited Dunrobin Castle and saw the falconry event. It was all glorious.

Cheap shuttle bus near port takes you to Inverness. Then did the Jacobite tours from bus terminal. Bus/boat cruise worth every cent. Highly recommend

This was my favorite port! The small town of Invergordon is very nice and the locals are very friendly. We took an excursion to Dunrobin Castle which was very beautiful!! It is different than any other castle on the trip. They have a falconry display and you are able to walk around inside the castle.

Another favorite ship tour. To visit Macbeth's Cawdor Castle and Urquhart Castle and look for the Loch Ness Monster all in one day is pretty special.
