Took an excursion to the Blarney Castle. Passed on going up to kiss the Blarney stone. We enjoyed walking around the beautiful gardens and saw the huge Blarney House which I thought was nicer than the castle. When to the Blarney Woolen Mills store and bought a few things. Once back near the ship in Cobh, walked to the huge cathedral and took in the scenery of the different colored houses, etc.

The ship tours were already full for Blarney Castle so we used SEG for the Castle and scenic train ride. It was a Sunday so maybe that’s why things went haywire. The tour operator said part of the tour would be eliminated to get us back on time. Ok, no problem. They made a big deal about arriving 15 minutes early to avoid missing our private train. We waited over 1.5 hours for our private train. Wouldn’t call it scenic. Then we transferred over to a big bus. More waiting while other tours arrived at Blarney Castle. On the way back, it was getting within 25 minutes of the ship leaving. We had raised concerns on the way back. Just a bus malfunction or fender bender and we would have missed the ship!

The city was very picturesque. I also went on the "Titanic guided walking trail tour" there but it was not very good as the guide constantly got off topic and started talking about her personal life and would forget what she was saying originally. That's a pet peeve of mind. I plan on going back and going to the Titanic Experience located in the original ticket office building of White Star for the Titanic.

Skip the train into Cork and stay in the port of Cobh. It’s very authentic, walkable and has tons of interest. Photo ops galore!!!
