We did another Royal Caribbean excursion which included the old City of Pompeii and the Amalfi Coast by Motor Launch. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable, but not personable, very unorganized, rude to some of the people in the group and the tour radios were horrific! The old City of Pompeii was my least favorite part of the trip. There were so many groups touring and it was really overcrowded. You walk on very uneven cobblestone and I felt as though I was watching where I was walking versus seeing what was around me. You do make a stop at the Cameo shop/factory and it is worth a look in. I did purchase earrings to match a family heirloom Cameo pin. Pricing was fair. We walked 5 miles this day.

everything went well as we planned until we found out we missed a train because we forgot it was on the Sunday schedule at Pompeii. SO, I rushed out to catch one ( the only one available taxi ). As we talked about the 70 Euro to drive us 3 to back to Salerno in 30-40 minutes, we got into his no seat belt van taxi. After 20 minutes on high way, he said something in Italian that no body understood. He kept on saying "Pompeii, Pompeii "... I thought he meant that he wanted me to pay him back to his Pompeii town for his empty car. He kept on saying and finally he wrote down 110 Euro. I paid him 110 Euro after he dropped us on our shuttle bus to the ship and I had my cruise translator to talk to him. He meant he wanted to drive us back to Pompeii for 110 Euro for the RT price. I forgot to ask the refund and he did not give me that 40 Euro. This made me so unhappy and felt very bad about the Pompeii taxi !!!!!! ( : Pls be aware !)
