Port is not ideal for cruise ship passengers. Most great beaches require a boat ride to get to, which adds to the time of the excursion. However, ship anchors at sea here and everyone had to endure the incredibly inefficient tender process by MSC again. Burned 2 and an half hours just for the tender process btwn morning and afternoon, while the ship only in port 8 hours.

Tiny island. Not much to see except the Shipwreck Beach, which is closed to tourists because of landslides. Even though this was widely reported in the news for the last six months, Celebrity did not advise us that the beach was off limits until the day before the excursion.

Guide must have been new and needs more experience. The lunch and Greek traditional dancing was fun. Rest of your was not worth my time.

NCL excursion Panoramic Zakynthos. Extensive tour of the island. Pretty good but not great. Corfu was much better. Maybe should have gone to a beach.

No excursion here, we got off the ship and took the little train ride around the town. It was quite boring. Some beautiful buildings, but kind of dirty. We walked to a rocky beach area and soaked in the ocean for a bit, water was clear and nice.

Leaves much to be desired. Once you tender over, the main square is nice with a beautiful, extremely ornate and detailed Orthodox Christian church. Be warned, the lady will yell at you in there if you use your phone or take pictures. I think it is the most beautiful interior of an Orthodox church I have ever seen. Otherwise, a few travel guides will say to visit “Castle Bohali.” We were up for walking so up, up, up we went, hundreds of stairs and narrow, winding, residential roads and once you get to “Castle Bohali”, all it is is an old building with a tower and dome (landmark). But it is locked up with no signage or anything to do there except enjoy the view. Once we walked back down, we didn’t know what else to do so we took this cute little tourist train, hoping it would go even further up the hill to some attraction we could see but instead, for 5 euro it just drove us around the streets at the base of Zakynthos. Not interesting or scenic, at all. This port needs to up its game, big time.
