A lovely seaside town. The ruins (what else) were nice but it was raining very hard the day we visited and this was not the kind of sightseeing you want to do in the rain. The people were very nice.

Get a driver or get on the tour. I wish now we had signed up for some organized tour. Unlike Delos, where the space is so small that it is easy to just hear what the various guides are saying, Olympic ruins are more spacious and you cannot hear what the guide is saying as easily if you are not part of the group. If you have a driver, definitely do both the Olympic ruins and go to the beach! It was so gorgeously blue and very comfortable water temperature. Our cab driver, Dmitri, was sooo nice, he showed us a great local restaurant that was not expensive, then I wanted baklava and he knew a great little shop and got us baklava, and he was informative.

Not really worth it. Just souvenir stores, and cafes. And then a $100USD cab ride to Olympia.

Easy to arrange excursion on site, just walk to the nearest travel agent and get it for 3 times less than on board. We also hired scooter (10 eur 1 hour). Car is available for eur 40.We also used high Internet in internet cafe for 2 eur per 1/2 hour in Catacolon - a lot of places to save your internet traffic on board

We did not take a tour to Olympia since I had been there 60 years ago. The town of Katakolon, however, was very nice.
