Having a free shuttle to old town made it very convenient. Lots of narrow winding streets with interesting shops. The Archeological Museum was really nice.

Crete was a fill in. We did a hop on hop off bus tour - saw remnants of a palace but that’s about it.

We did the Discovery Family excursion to the ruins of Knossos Palace. This was a fascinating visit and the guide was extremely knowledgeable. We also visited the Cretaquarium, it was interesting to see some of the marine life in the Mediterranean Sea. We had lunch at a local restaurant. The food was delicious, however the wait staff didn't explain what it was we were eating.

Took city bus to the archaeological site of Cnossos, then to the museum.

Crete is a bit remote, hot and rocky, but the famous site of Knossos helps tell the story of an ancient civilization and should not be missed. Large crowds cans make the overall visit a bit more stressful. We enjoyed the Princess excursion all-day tour that provided lunch and comprehensive visiting of the island, especially with a stop in the scenic tourist town of Agios Nikolaos.

We had to take a bus to/from the ship to the port entrance. We walked along the sea front to the harbour and then walked up through the town. Lovely morning, spent the afternoon chilling on a quiet ship.

Nice port, stay away from the cab drivers as you leave the terminal, Go walk past them and into town where the fares are more reasonable. Do the Venetian castle that's close by. Knossos is exhausting an overrated save your money!
