We visited the palace of Knossos and had a wonderful day.

Old city ruins ok not the best

Took a small excursion offered by my travel agent. It was great.

Could have skipped this all together.

Minos Palace was very interesting. Not hard to get around. Some fun touristy shopping. Wished the fortress and been open.

Our planned excursion was canceled and the other choices were all pretty sedate, so we just did things on our own. The Palace of Knossos was nice, but better if you like slow/guided tours - we don't, and so we just self-guided, and it was "okay". Heraklion itself is a nice town to walk around in, but like so many places, very touristy.

We docked at Souda instead. Closer to town. Old China nice. We did tour with Aptera and it was beautiful. Of course 68 degrees in December was great

We had to take a bus to/from the ship to the port entrance. We walked along the sea front to the harbour and then walked up through the town. Lovely morning, spent the afternoon chilling on a quiet ship.

Ship was unsuccessful at getting in the harbor. Could not visit Crete. HUGE disappointment!

Nice port, stay away from the cab drivers as you leave the terminal, Go walk past them and into town where the fares are more reasonable. Do the Venetian castle that's close by. Knossos is exhausting an overrated save your money!
