My son and I did a lake kayaking trip on this one and it was an amazing couple of hours on the water. The port however is like all the others. There's a tourist trap souvenir shop where you meet the guides for excursions. There is absolutely no way to walk to town at all. It's a long bus ride away and you need to wait in a long line to even go. Nothing really to see in town unless you like those godforsaken Effy, Del-Sol, Whatever the stupid bamboo sheet store is, and gold/jewelry store. Forget seeing any locally handmade Alaskan or Native items/artwork for sale.

Excellent but not enough time to spent.

Was a quick stop which was fine for us since we had been before but you should get in line early to catch the bus back.

We did Saxman Village Tour. It was an outstanding presentation of the Tlingit history way of life and beautiful totem poles

Shore excursion was amazing but not enough time at the port

We took an excursion thru another company. Not too impressed but cheaper than thru the cruise line.

NCL Encore really isn't set up for an enjoyable visit to this port of call. The ship docks at a location that is a very far distance from town. Lines for shuttles take over an hour - but you only have 4 hours in port. I will say that the shopping options at the Ward Cove port store were priced lower than what we saw in town and offered at a lower sales tax rate (2% vs 8%).

Problem is NCL and where it docks.

Not enough time and dock far too far away.

The rainforest was good.
