Overall a good cruise. However when I travelled the ship was at about half capacity. I'm not sure what she would be like if full, probably difficult to get a seat in the main venues.

Cruise tips

Cannes, France

What can I say? It's the South of France where the rich live and play. Cannes is a beautiful resort famed for it's annual film festival. When you get to the port take a trip on the little train. It will take you on a trip around the resort and the commentary will give you lots of interesting facts about the place. Once back just take a walk along the sea front. It's great to people watch and see how the other half live. It's people watching paradise. Stroll along the Croisette where you will find all the top designer shops displaying their latest creations. I enjoyed immensely sipping a cocktail on the terrace of Armani Cafe just letting the world drift by. It is well worth a visit and I didn't think overly priced. A great photo opportunity to make those back home wish they were with you. If you are a film fanatic check out the souvenir shop sell all things film. You can't miss it as you walk along the front. Outside the shop you can see hand prints of many of the famous film stars that have visited Cannes. Hopefully this gives you some idea of what to do in Cannes. It's a lovely place to relax on a hectic cruise schedule.

Naples, Italy

If you don't want to spend a fortune on cruise line excursions Naples is easy to do on your own. A short walk from the port (behind the fort) you can find the hop on hop off tour bus. There are two routes and the one fare covers both. There is an audio commentary giving you information about things you see on your journey. Beware of the sun if you sit on the open top deck. If you like pizza then definitely give it a go here. There are numerous restarants serving this typical dish at a very reasonable price. Don't expect meat or vegetable toppings here though. The first known pizza shop was in Naples so I suppose it served as it always was. If you fancy somewhere cool and dark then Underground Naples is worth a try. There is a guided tour of the tunnels and wells which gives an interesting insight into the history. The only thing I'd point out is that if you are the slightest bit claustrophobic don't go as some of the tunnels are only just big enough to walk sideways through holdin a candle. Also if you can't manage loads of stairs then give this a miss. I hope I've given some idea of what you can do in Naples without having to take a mortgage out to pay for trips.
