Norwegian Breakaway

November 2017 - 7 Night Bahamas & Florida (New York Roundtrip) Cruise on Norwegian Breakaway

We were on the Bahamas cruise from New York. I gotta say I did really enjoy the cruise. There were a couple of things I didn’t enjoy, same things I have heard from other prior cruisers, but I didn’t let it ruin my vacation. I do believe that the public areas of the ship are wayyyy too small for the number of passengers on board- especially on at-sea days. Also, the cigarette smoke from the casino does really infiltrate other areas to the point that I had to completely avoid quite a bit of the mid ship area or else suffer an extreme coughing fit. But honestly that was my only complaint. The staff on board are awesome- they all work super hard to make everyone happy. I walked around with $1 bills and handed out tips generously. They deserve it! The stateroom is very comfortable, food was pretty good, especially at the specialty restaurants. Cagney’s was our favorite. We scored passes to the vibe club which I feel really made the cruise so relaxing. Without that, I would have likely hung out in my balcony a lot more. We really enjoyed the private island, entertainment- and all of the fun ropes course, etc. and there is so much to do on board, there is never a reason to be bored! As my hubby and I are dancers, I would have loved to see more areas where we could dance to live music, but that was rare to find. And there is carpeting EVERYWHERE and very little free space so it’s a little difficult to dance. I would definitely recommend this ship to people, especially families. However, if you are looking for a boat with no kids.. don’t pick this one!!

Cruise tips

King's Wharf, Bermuda

I’m new to cruise critic, or I would have posted this review a few years ago, when we took our actual cruise. (2013) I honestly can say that this was the most relaxing cruise I have ever been on! We had time at sea to get acquainted with the ship before spending 3 days on the island. I had done a lot of research prior and knew of the places we wanted to visit. When we got there, we bought a 3 day pass for the public bus and water taxi, which was around $18 per person I think. We got on the bus and took it from one side of the island to the other. When we saw something we wanted to explore, we got off, looked around, and caught the next bus to another destination. We kept a bus schedule with us so we knew when the last bus was and wouldn’t miss out on getting back to the boat for dinner. We came back to the boat for lunch and a nap, and went back out again. We also asked the bus drivers for some recommendations and one of them dropped us off at a little spot where we had an entire beach all to ourselves! It was fabulous. Stopped to see the lighthouse, horseshoe beach, did some shopping, saw some re-enactments, sat on the beach and played in the water A LOT. I will definitely consider another trip here. And for the beginning of October, we had absolutely perfect weather.
