I have been on a few cruises with small groups of people in the past few years but now I want to explore many other places on my own. What cruises are best for solo cruisers? I want to travel next to Canada or Alaska. Please way in on what & where I should research.

Both NCL and RCL have studio staterooms for single cruisers. NCL also has singles lounges to accompany the studio cabins. In the case of both lines these are only on the newer larger ships. The older smaller to medium sized ships do not have studio (single) cabins.
Carnival,as far I know, does not have this feature so RCL NCL are the best lines to research for solo cruisers accommodations.
I just booked a solo cabin on NCL for next month. My first time cruising alone. The solo cabin price seemed to be around 50% more than the per person price for an inside cabin. That's a whole lot better than paying double.

I did solo once on Carnival Freedom, had a great time, BUT carnival makes you pay for 2!!! Did this once had fun, but until they charge for 1, no more for me.
When I have priced the "Single Studios" a inside cabin solo was less expensive. I have traveled solo on Carnival with assigned seating and on Princess with Anytime dining. I just went in and told them 1 for a shared table. Most night I got lucky and got good table mates.
I would pick by the cruise line that I like that offers a better itinerary.

I believe NCL offer studio Staterooms on select cruises. I know Carnival does not have a single or solo pricing. They sell per cabin. Meaning if the cabin is $1200 and there are two people of course it's $600 each. And if one person it $1200. I don't know what NCL charges for their studio rooms. If compared to a an regular interior cabin At $1200 total for the cabin, I'm guessing the studio would $800 or $900. Like I said just guessing. Check with NCL. Good luck.
