Shore excursions in Port Canaveral

MSC only has 3 shore excursions in Orlando, none of which the 14 people in my party want to do. We are there from 1pm-9pm. We have some young children and would love to go to downtown Disney to the rainforest Cafe. Has anyone gone this far away from ship? Or does anyone have any other ideas for something to do closer to ship?

Thanks, Nikki

in nassau we just where at blue lagoon island it was alot of fun. went swimming with dolphins there.

beach was nice for kids too.

was just in port Canaveral on a cruise. and the timing of your arrival. may not work for many excursions. disney marketplace is about an hour from the port each way. we went to kennedy space center it about 20 min away but it closes a 6pm. the market that was mentioned by cruise queen might be a good option. or maybe a local beach.

We have done Atlantis a few times thru Carnival, but I am thinking you may check with them direct. It is a very fun day, huge water park very cool slides, large lazy river and pools. You also have access to a nice beach with loungers. You can also see the aquarium and go to the casino. A lot to do and nice but it was around $150.00 per child and $220.00 per adult. I don't remember if it included any food or not, I remember eating at a snack bar type area by the pools.

In Nassau stick to the populated well touristed areas. Atlantis is fun. We did the swim with the dolphins when there. It was booked in advance and once again we booked transfers from the ship to Atlantis then on line prior to the cruise we booked day passes for Atlantis.

I've never been to Atlantis, but there's a straw market not far from the pier.

I was only hoping to go to downtown Disney to take grandchildren to Rainforest Cafe. I have done a 7 night cruise followed by a 7 night Disney vacation. Your right that is definitely the way to go if your doing the large parks. Any tips about Nassau? MSC offers nothing in the way of shore excursions my family would really want. They really want to go the Alantis Resort. Thinking about the waterslides and glass tunnel aquarium.

While most cruise lines offer transfers, going to Orlando may not be your best option, time-wise. It's an hour each way to the port, which means you'll only get a max of 7 hours. Plus you have to eat, which takes another 1-2 hours (depending on if you're having both lunch and dinner there), leaving you only 5 hours in the park. Something like Disney can't be seen in less than 2 days, when you think about how much there is to see an do in the park. You'd be much better off adding a Disney trip before or after the cruise and then going to some place like Kennedy Space Center during the time you're in Port Canaveral.

A friend of mine did the Disney park transfer in October and I did the Sea World transfer last month. In either case, we only got 1-2 rides in during the 5 hours we were there.

Most cruise lines offer transfers passes to all of the parks. This is basically a shuttle service. They pick you up at the ship and drive you 1 hour to various Orlando spots. They drop you and then pick you up at same place at a pre set time. In between you are on your own. If you want park passes you buy them direct on line from whichever park you wish to go to usually in advance before you go.
