Hi, I bought a cruise 6 month ago, 16 days from Rome to miami, I paid for 2 people, I was hoping to go back to my girlfriend. But it didn't work out. I never been on a cruise before, and I tried to get a refund but I couldn't. It sails on 28th of November from Rome. From what I saw it's really tricky to book things and prepare before the cruise. So please can anyone advise me what to do with the extra ticket. I would appreciate your feed back ð

If you can go by yourself, why not? Talk to front desk on the 1st day, ask to remove Port fees and charges and anything else associated with the 2nd person. Is that on the Scarlet lady? Adults only cruise, enjoy!
Thank you, sounds promising, i will try to make the best out of it

Not sure if male, or female. First cruise - transatlantic - be sure and pack motion sickness pills. Take one prior to reaching deep water even if feeling OK. You will be days without seeing land. I still dream of a transatlantic - and this is the cruise you chose as your first. I am envious. Treat the Staff and fellow passengers nice. I tip extra during the cruise. Many do not (as tips are included) but the Staff work hard and $1 -while almost nothing - makes them - and me happy for their efforts. If your ship has a self-serve laundry - use it. You can get laundry done by the ship, but pay for that service. Your wait Staff at dinner could be the most important part of your cruise (beside your cabin porter). Take in the ships entertainment options. Mingle. Talk. Smile. Enjoy.
Thank you for responding, I live in dubai most of the time so I will be leaving from there, it's not the expensive, besides I need to go to Portugal anyway, so I will hit 2 birds. About friends I don't have any, I used have one and he died a year ago. And family my mum and dad are very old and unfit to travel anywhere, I have one brother but we don't speak or know each other and he's living in Chicago with his family. I will go alone but you made me a bit nervous about starting to prepare ð¬, besides my passport I really don't know what to prepare. Also I was looking for some one to share the trip not actually for the cost, I was thinking to travel with someone experienced it actually can save me alot on the long run and not miss out on things that I didn't know about.
But I really appreciate your advice, thank you ð
Well, don't you have any friends or family members that would be willing to go on the cruise with you and pay for their share? You will not get a refund, so you should try to find another cruiser to go with you to split the cost.
Just because the cruise is for adults does NOT mean it is for couples. Lots of friends and families cruise these days.
The cruise line can make the cabin have two separate beds, not just one big bed, so you and a friend (or grandmother, or uncle, etc. ) can just share the cabin and the bathroom.
Where do you live? Your one way airfare to Rome could be quite expensive, so take that into account. You will also need to pay for tips for every day for your cabin.
Yes, I have cruised by myself, and made a lot of friends from around the world.
You do not have a lot of time, so you need to start checking around. Make sure your passports are up-to-date.
Best wishes, and bon voyage!
Really thank you for taking the time to understand my pickle. I just never been in a cruise and this one says adults only so I figured it's for couples. I thought if I find a nice person with cruising experience will make my life easier, first I didn't want all that money to go to waste it cost almost 5k for 2 sailors, and I didn't want to look like a loserð. But your reply actually gave me hope. Thank you so much sirð
You already paid for two folks in your cabin. If just you, let the Cruise line know, and they will remove the port charges for the second person. That might save you $100-200. That said, traveling by yourself is NOT the end of the World. Many folks cruise as singles. Most Cruise lines have singles meet/greet sessions. They are not 'hook up' groups, just fellow single travelers. I have met a few memorable people cruising by myself. The wife of a football coach, and an owner of a day care - with her Mother - all friendly, and fun to spend time with during various cruise activities. On a 16-day cruise, you could easily meet five of six special friends and have a good time. Not talking love, but friendships are nice. Cruising by yourself is not bad. You do WHAT you want, WHEN you want. Cruisers are generally nice, friendly people. Go. Explore. Enjoy. Best wishes to you.
