First time cruisers!

I read somewhere that when we get to the ship terminal we should sign into a website to make reservations for some onboard activities. It Cruiseline the right website to do this? We are Oceania

No cruiseline and it's associated app, Shipmates, is not in anyway connected to your cruise line's planner or ship board systems.

Most cruise line's maintain a pre-voyage planner or manager through their main website to make package and individual purchases, excursion offerings, certain reservations for dining or entertainment, and service purchases, by activating an account there. Often this includes the portal to do your online check-in (commonly done 14-60 days prior to boarding day), and a link or QR code to any mobile app the line offers.

I'm not specifically aware of Oceania's list of availabilities through their on line account to a planner/manager, but on many other lines often waiting till on board to make things like recommended show or activity reservations leaves only the times and dates that more experienced cruisers didn't want.
