Majesty of the Seas

July 2017 - 4 Night Bahamas (Port Canaveral Roundtrip) Cruise on Majesty of the Seas

The Majesty of the Seas is pretty outdated. This was our first cruise and we may go on another but not on this ship. There was not much entertainment especially on our cruising day(which we thought should be jam packed with many options since we are onboard all day) The pool is quite small and they don't seem to enforce the "must be potty trained no swim diaper" rule which really stinks. Day one the pool wasn't even filled(until after we left the port that evening) so we couldn't have enjoyed it early even if we wanted to. We felt that it was very unorganized as we had no idea what was going on at all(you would think that they would have someone to show first time cruisers the ropes) Since we had no idea what to expect, we missed some opportunities on the first day and they never delivered us our Compass for day one until we called. Most staff is friendly but not all. Also we bought a drink package but we didn't really use it until the final day as we drank mostly water in the windjammer with our meals. The hallways seemed unbelievably hot and our air in our room didn't seem to work really well until day 2-3 which left it hot and stuffy/humid. The staff that cleaned our room did a very good job changing out our towels and asking if we needed anything. We did have a pipe leak in our bathroom which led to the pipe actually coming apart and left sink water pouring directly into the floor(good thing there is tile and and a drain) We caught the maintenance guys in the hallway and they promptly fixed it right away though so that is a plus on their part. We chose not to go to the sit down dinner as we much preferred the casual atmosphere of the Windjammer. The dining room was clean as was the buffet. I would have preferred a wider variety of food(maybe different options for each day rather than most of the same food for breakfast each day) However, for us, the food was the best part of the cruise. There were many options that were quite tasty. I have to say that the Windjammer manager runs his restaurant quite well and it is probably the most organized part of the cruise. This ship, for us, was just eh. I think that we will choose a newer ship with more amenities if we decide to cruise again.

Cruise tips

Port Canaveral, Florida

Had an early flight so we headed to Kennedy Space Center for the day before we boarded the ship at 5:30pm. They held our luggage for us(you just have to ask the staff at Kennedy Space Center as we got several different answers about whether the do or don't store luggage) We had a very nice day learning and it was much better than sitting in an airport all day. There is even an IMAX theatre with popcorn and snacks where they have two different movies.

Nassau, Bahamas

Went to Atlantis and it was amazing for us and our three boys ages 13, 10, and 8. The only downside was that we didn't have nearly enough time to explore even half of the water park. We did the shallow water dolphin encounter and that was truly an amazing experience in itself. We have already decided to fly back into Nassau and stay at Atlantis for several days so that we have time to explore everything they have at the aqua park. There is a gigantic casino that took us quite a while to walk through if you are into gambling, though we didn't actually gamble on this trip. The not so lazy river was lots of fun and had us laughing the whole time.
