Special Holiday Experiences Coming to Princess Cruises’ Sun Princess

Princess Cruises has announced a special lineup of first-ever holiday experiences for its newest ship, Sun Princess. The ship will celebrate its inaugural holiday season with dazzling décor, immersive shows, family activities, and beloved holiday traditions reimagined at sea for Thanksgiving, Christmas, Hanukkah, and New Year’s. 

“Our team has created a lineup of magical holiday experiences you won’t find anywhere else,” said Becky Thomson Foley, Princess Head of Global Entertainment. “Whether you’re planning a memorable escape this year or looking ahead to the 2025 holiday season, immerse yourself in the holiday spirit, as at Princess, entertainment really does happen all around you.”

Each cruise on Sun Princess during the holiday season will kick off with a brand new Tree Lighting Celebration in the ship’s Piazza led by the Cruise Director. This light show will feature a talented cast of singers and dancers, with a special appearance by Stanley the Bear. One special guest will be selected to light the ship’s grand Christmas tree – the largest ever featured on a Princess ship. Also new for the season for younger guests is the ship’s “Polar Pals”, enchanting animal puppets inspired by the Northern Lights, that will roam the Piazza. 

All guests can gather in the Sun Princess Piazza to eagerly follow the Santa tracker as he heads toward Sun Princess for music and photo opportunities throughout the voyage. ​

Sun Princess will also feature a range of fun holiday entertainment and activities for all ages. Among the highlights is a performance by the Princess World Orchestra with a Jazz Era Holiday Tribute. Other featured events to include a Holly Jolly Sweater Party, holiday trivia and movies, as well as Stanley, the New Elf’s Daily Hide and Seek game for kids. 

During the season, Sun Princess will also welcome seasonal religious services including a Hanukkah Candle Lighting and Services, a Christmas Eve Protestant Service, a Christmas Eve Catholic Service, and Interdenominational Christmas and Church Services.  

What is a holiday without delicious food? The Princess culinary team will create an array of memorable holiday meals, with roasted turkey and trimmings for Thanksgiving, Hanukkah latkes, and Christmas prime rib. Princess mixologists have created holiday-themed cocktails and mocktails, including “The Jingle” (a cranberry vodka infusion) or “Charm” (a pecan-spiced delight). Guests will enjoy holiday dining in Sun Princess’ main dining room, specialty restaurants, and casual eateries. 

Guests celebrating New Year’s onboard Sun Princess will do it in style, as the shop transforms into a party venue. The decks will come alive with music, décor, and dancing all leading up to a countdown complete with noise makers, the Sun Princess Band, and a Champagne toast to ring in 2025.

Sun Princess is the only ship of the line’s fleet to offer this specific Holidays at Sea program, however, all Princess ships in the fleet will celebrate the holidays in style, decked with holiday décor, festive activities, special menus, theme drinks, and more.
