Sneak Peak: Inside the Disney Wish

(Latest Update: February 7, 2022) Fairy tales come to those who wait - Disney Cruise Line has announced Disney Wish will now set sail on its maiden voyage on July 14, 2022, as opposed to its initially scheduled debut in April 2022. 

Disney Wish is the fifth cruise ship in the line's fleet. According to Disney, the vessel will have the, “motif of enchantment — found at the heart of so many beloved Disney stories — is the architectural and thematic foundation of the ship’s design, weaving imagination, emotion and adventure into the very fabric of the vessel’s unique personality.”

Here’s a look at some of the highlights which you will find onboard Disney Wish:  

Awesome Activities & Spaces for Kids

Marvel Super Hero Academy: In this Disney Wish exclusive experience, young ‘recruits’ can train to be the next generation of super heroes with the help of their own real-life heroes, like Spider-Man, Black Panther, Ant-Man and the Wasp. Kids (or the young at heart) will choose a superhero suit from a selection of power sets based on Marvel heroes like Iron Man and Captain Marvel, and watch their choices become nanotech forms around mannequins in real-time.

Fairytale Hall: This area will feature three activity rooms where young guests will join some of their favorite Disney Princesses and Frozen Queens. Kids can let their creativity shine at the Rapunzel Art Studio, read and act out stories in the Belle’s Library area, and at Anna and Elsa’s Sommerhus they can unlock their icy powers in a series of gesture-based games hosted by Olaf.

Walt Disney Imagineering Lab: This new space is a first-of-its-kind opportunity for kids to harness their creative talents and become actual Disney Imagineers — the creative masterminds behind Disney theme parks, resorts and cruise ships. The Lab will feature hands-on activities and experiments, including the Ride Studio where kids can Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Space Mountain or Matterhorn Bobsleds and then virtually ride their creation. 

Unique Outdoor Spaces

AquaMouse: Disney will introduce their first-ever attraction at sea with AquaMouse, a thrilling water ride that will send families on an adventure through 760 feet of winding tubes suspended high above the upper decks of the ship. The grand finale of this exciting ride -  a soaring loop over the edge of the ship with fantastic water views.

Quiet Cove: At Quiet Cove, guests ages 18 and older will find a secluded adults-only district. Set on the back of the ship, this area will offer breathtaking panoramic views of the ocean from a luxurious infinity pool. While the kids are taking part in the kid’s clubs, parents can enjoy a cocktail at the open-air Cove Bar. 

Expanded Pool Decks: Families will have more pools, more deck space, and more dining than ever before in an expansive onboard pool district. Located on decks 11 and 12 midship, the pool area will include six pools of various sizes and depths, spatially staggered among tiered decks and surrounded by lounge chairs to provide families with space to stretch out and soak up the sunshine.

According to Disney, the Disney Wish will “present a splendid line-up of world-class entertainment experiences that will immerse families in the fantastical worlds of their favorite Disney stories like never before. The combination of innovative new venue concepts and evolutionary storytelling techniques will set the stage for original productions, guest-favorite shows and brand-new experiences for the entire family to enjoy.” 

Entertainment Venues

The Grand Hall: The fairytale castle-inspired Grand Hall can evolve from an elegant atrium into an environmental theater with the help of a hidden layer of special effects and the first-ever atrium stage onboard a Disney ship. From the ornate stage to the grand staircase to the starry chandelier above, dedicated shows and interactive entertainment will come to life all around guests in this magical new venue.

Luna: This entertainment hub will transition from a daytime setting for family fun into an elegant evening venue for adult-exclusive entertainment, offering a variety of live shows and interactive programming throughout the day and night.

Hero Zone: Hero Zone is a futuristic sports arena that will alternate between an elaborate family obstacle course and a free-play sports hub. At the Hero Zone families can take part in action-packed challenges themed to some of Disney’s heroes during game show-style competitions.

Walt Disney Theatre: Disney Cruise Line’s Broadway-style, world-class shows will take place in this elegant 1,274-seat theater which will span three decks and include orchestra and balcony seating. The theater will be equipped with state-of-the-art technology, including the most robust projection mapping capabilities of any Disney ship and a Dolby Atmos 3D audio system — a first for the cruise industry. 

‘Disney’s Aladdin – A Musical Spectacular’: As part of its line-up of theatrical productions, Disney Wish will feature a reimagined adaptation of “Disney’s Aladdin – A Musical Spectacular,” a guest-favorite show from across the fleet.

Arendelle: A Frozen Dining Adventure: This is Disney’s first-ever “Frozen”-themed theatrical dining experience. Here, the kingdom of Arendelle will come to life through immersive live entertainment — featuring favorite characters like Elsa, Anna, Kristoff and Olaf — and world-class cuisine infused with Nordic influences.

Worlds of Marvel: 

This is the first-ever Marvel cinematic dining adventure. Guests will play an interactive role in an action-packed Avengers mission that unfolds around them, complete with a worldly menu inspired by the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

1923: Named for the year The Walt Disney Company was founded, 1923 is an elegant restaurant celebrating the Disney legacy. Dishes will pay tribute to the companies’ California heritage.

Star Wars: Hyperspace Lounge: Embark on a space-jumping tour of the Star Wars galaxy at this high-end bar styled as a luxurious yacht-class spaceship. This immersive experience is reserved for adults every evening, offering interactive tasting experiences and signature beverages inspired by the films.

Enchanté by Chef Arnaud Lallement​ - Photo by Disney Cruise Line

Enchanté by Chef Arnaud Lallement: This restaurant will offer the most luxurious dining experience onboard, featuring a gourmet menu crafted by three-Michelin-starred Chef Arnaud Lallement, one of the culinary masterminds behind the French-inspired fine dining experience at Remy aboard the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy.

Palo Steakhouse: This venue is an evolution of the Palo restaurant found on several other Disney ships. The menu combines authentic Italian dining with the classic refinement of a modern steakhouse in a genteel setting inspired by Cogsworth, the tale’s majordomo-turned-enchanted-clock.

The Rose: This chic lounge will be found at the entrance of Palo Steakhouse and Enchanté. It offers the perfect setting for a pre-dinner aperitif or after-dinner cocktail. 

Spacious Accommodations

Every stateroom onboard the Disney Wish is a luxurious, peaceful retreat designed with ample room for families. Most will feature Disney Cruise Line’s signature split-bathroom concept for utmost comfort and function.

Most of the ship’s 1,254 staterooms will offer an ocean view — including 877 (70%) with a spacious verandah — and there will be 451 connecting doors that adjoin rooms to accommodate larger families.

For guests looking for something just a little extra, Disney Wish will offer double the number of premium concierge staterooms and suites, including Disney’s first-ever staterooms located above the bridge. These rooms will feature floor-to-ceiling windows to take in the breathtaking ocean views. 

Disney Wish will sail its maiden voyage from Port Canaveral on July 14, 2022. The ship will offer a season of three- and four-night cruises to Nassau and Castaway Cay from Port Canaveral, Florida. Bookings for sailings are now open.
