Royal Caribbean Reveals More Odyssey of the Seas Details
Royal Caribbean has revealed additional details about their upcoming Quantum Ultra class ship, Odyssey of the Seas. The vessel will have the fleet’s most action-packed top deck to date, with a mix of both new and existing amenities for the cruise line.
“Odyssey of the Seas will set an all-new standard created to deliver the most memorable vacations by combining immersive experiences, the best of Royal Caribbean’s trendsetting innovations and the signature ‘Royal Way’ service of our dedicated crew members,” said Michael Bayley, President and CEO, Royal Caribbean International. “This Quantum Ultra Class ship introduces a new way to see the world as she becomes our first purposefully built vessel for island hopping on both sides of the Atlantic.”
A New Level of Play
Odyssey will introduce the next generation of Royal Caribbean’s signature SeaPlex, the largest indoor activity space at sea. The most interactive arcade at sea will take up most of the space’s upper level, with VR games for both individuals as well as groups, and augmented reality walls and floors for high-tech competitions. Also at the SeaPlex will be the popular bumper cars and a trapeze for high-flying fun. The space will also double as a glow-in-the-dark laser tag arena, pitting Yetis and Snow Shifters against each other in Clash for the Crystal City.
Combining the best of Quantum class with new Royal Caribbean favorites, Playmakers Sports Bar & Arcade boasts a prime spot in the SeaPlex, with TVs at every angle to cheer on the home team. Offering club-level views of the competition both below and onscreen, sports enthusiasts will catch every play whether in real life or through the screen. Bar fare like chicken wings, sliders, and ice-cold brews will be available for the perfect snack. Passengers can also enjoy classic board games, trivia and pool.
Odyssey of the Seas will feature other classic Royal Caribbean attractions including a FlowRider surfing simulator, the RipCord by iFly skydiving simulator, a rock-climbing wall, and the bungee trampoline SkyPad with an optional virtual reality component.
Primed to Unwind
The ship’s vibrant, two-level pool deck will include two resort-style pools and four hot tubs, surrounded by shady casitas and hammocks. Nearby, the two-story Lime & Coconut bar serves pool-front views and tropical cocktails throughout the day and into the night. Grab-and-go Mexican fare is available at El Loco Fresh, where travelers can choose between tacos, burritos, and quesadillas topped with a variety of fresh salsas.
Young cruisers can hit up Splashaway Bay, an aqua park with waterslides, fountains, water cannons, and more. Adults can retreat to the Solarium, an exclusive top-deck space featuring swimming pools, hot tubs, daybeds, and a full-service bar.
High-Tech Entertainment
Royal Caribbean’s 27th ship will up the ante on its signature productions in the Two70 lounge, which boasts 27-degree panoramic windows with sweeping ocean views that transform into a 135-foot-wide screen. As day turns to night, the iconic aft venue becomes a multidimensional theater where a troupe of six Roboscreens come to life in sync with music, special effects, and live performers and aerialists for an unforgettable show.
Those looking to hit up the dance floor can head to Music Hall for an always-changing set list of live performances. Dance the night away or sit back and relax in the intimate lounge space with a cocktail from the Bionic Bar while enjoying some of the best cover bands.
Diverse Dining
For the first time in North America, Odyssey of the Seas will include Royal’s hibachi restaurant Teppanyaki, serving up authentic oriental flavors in a traditional Japanese style. Also joining the lineup is Giovanni’s Italian Kitchen & Wine Bar, the line’s new take on their signature Italian trattoria. Passengers can also expect to find Royal Caribbean favorites including sushi and sashimi at Izumi, hand-cut steaks at Chop’s Grille, the intimate Chef’s Table experience, and imaginative dishes at the fairy-tale inspired Wonderland.
