Norwegian Cruise Line to Add 1,000 Solo Staterooms
To meet the increased demand by solo travelers, Norwegian Cruise Line today announced that it will introduce nearly 1,000 dedicated solo staterooms across its 19-ship fleet.
Starting this week, Norwegian will open bookings for three new categories of solo staterooms, including Solo Inside, Solo Oceanview, and Solo Balcony for future sailings starting om January. 2, 2024.
Guests opting to travel in these rooms will only pay for the fare for themselves, less than a traditional double occupancy room. Pricing and availability will depend on the sailing’s destination and demand.
“We strive to provide our guests with diverse offerings to create their dream vacation,” said David J. Herrera, President of Norwegian Cruise Line. “Since we first launched our solo staterooms in 2010 with Norwegian Epic, they have been quite popular with single travelers. We are continuously listening to our guests to deliver the experience they want. After realizing the growing demand of individuals looking to travel on their own, we have now expanded single occupancy staterooms across our fleet.”
Guests who stay in these new solo stateroom categories will also have access to the key card entry Studio Lounge area, available on select ships. This area features a dedicated space to relax, as well as a bar with beer, wine, and snacks. Solo cruisers can also take part in dedicated activities for single travelers.
Norwegian Cruise Line reports that from 2019 - 2022, they saw a significant increase in guests booking accommodations as a single occupant in non-studio staterooms. By increasing their capacity of solo stateroom categories and availability of cabins on more ships, single guests will have more opportunities to visit destinations around the world.
