Norwegian Cruise Line has announced plans for a new terminal at PortMiami, set to be finished by fall 2019. The terminal will be completed just in time to welcome Norwegian Encore to her homeport, where she will operate seasonal cruises to the Caribbean. Located to the east of the existing Terminals B and C, construction on this new project is slated to begin in May 2018.

Designed by Miami-based global architecture firm Bermello Ajamil & Partners, the terminal will be nearly 166,500 square feet and accommodate ships that hold up to 5,000 passengers. The cutting-edge design calls for new technology to support faster and more efficient embarkation and disembarkation processes, as well as expedited security screening and luggage check-in.

A new parking garage and valet parking with direct terminal access are also in the construction plans, along with a dedicated lounge and service area for groups to make them feel welcome. LEED Silver standards are at the heart of the project, with a clear focus on design and operation to optimize indoor air quality, energy performance, water efficiencies, and to maximize the use of local resources and materials.

The terminal’s modern design draws inspiration from a nautilus, with a spiraled and multi-level facade with picturesque ocean views. Innovative lighting, comfortable indoor and outdoor waiting areas, and other guest-focused elements will elevate the passenger experience before and after a cruise vacation.
